Success Story MUNK with CatalogExpress

How the MUNK Group gets their product data fit for retailing

Success Story

Until now, the preparation of product data for the retailers was a work-intensive process for the MUNK Group. Only a German-language standard catalog in BMEcat format 1.2 with ECLASS classification 5.1.4 could be generated from the PIM system. For other classifications or sub-ranges, external editors were necessary. Only a few employees were able to do this work at MUNK. The requirements of the technology and innovation leader in access technology for product data management are, of course, different.

Therefore, the MUNK Group was looking for a solution to export their product data more easily into different data formats. When it came to realization, they opted for nexoma’s CatalogExpress.

Read here how the MUNK Group makes their product data fit for retail.

Initial situation and goal

The MUNK Group with its business units MUNK Günzburger Steigtechnik, MUNK Rettungstechnik and MUNK Service is one of the most important suppliers of access and rescue technology as well as suitable service solutions.

As a B2B company, the MUNK Group counts on the collective power with trade partners for the digital end-customer business. End customers inform themselves in detail about all product features at the Munk Group as a first-hand manufacturer. One click takes them from here to the connected dealer stores, where the actual purchase can be completed. High-quality product data is essential for the online stores.

The MUNK Group provides this to their retail partners in a variety of latest exchange formats. Since then, a German-language standard catalog in BMEcat format 1.2 with ECLASS classification 5.1.4 has been generated directly from the PIM system. For other classifications or sub-ranges, external editors were necessary. Only a few employees were able to do this work at MUNK.

The MUNK Group was looking for a solution to export their product data more easily into different data formats.

When it came to implementation, they chose nexoma’s CatalogExpress. MUNK was convinced by nexoma because they have a lot of experience with their PIM system Pimcore. Besides, as a provider of supplier portals (Supplier Portal), nexoma has extensive know-how about the needs and requirements of product data from the retail side.

The MUNK Group can thus respond to individual requirements from its retail partners much more quickly and effortlessly. Retailers are more satisfied because they receive the information they need more quickly and in better quality.

Catalogs with various standard assortments and customer-specific products can also be easily exported to different output formats such as BMEcat, xlsx and many more.

Due to the simple handling of CatalogExpress, it was also easy to learn. Now, considerably more MUNK employees are able to provide the dealers with individually required product data. The sales department can also handle corresponding customer inquiries directly. MUNK also offers the most requested standard formats for free download.

During the implementation of Catalog Express, the MUNK Group was able to learn a lot about itself and its processes and data. With nexoma as a sparring partner, it was thus also possible to initiate decisive changes internally, which extend far beyond the actual CatalogExpress project.
